ThingsBoard + Water Quality Monitoring: A Practical Stack

·

Here’s the reference architecture we deploy most often for rivers, lakes and aquaculture.

The stack

  1. Sensing: HFY-WQ600 multi-parameter sonde (pH, DO, conductivity, turbidity, T)
  2. Edge: HFY-DL100 LoRaWAN logger polls the sonde every 5–15 minutes
  3. Network: one LoRaWAN gateway covers typical farm / river stretch; NB-IoT gateways for remote points
  4. Platform: ThingsBoard CE on a $10/month VPS — dashboards, alarms, reports

Why ThingsBoard

  • Open-source (CE) — no vendor lock-in, self-hosted data
  • Rule chains make alarms trivial: DO < 4 mg/L → WhatsApp alert to farm staff
  • Customer portals: each farm sees only its ponds

Typical dashboard

Site map with status colors, live parameter cards, 30-day trends, and an alarm history table. Mobile-first — farmers check it like a weather app.

Getting started

We offer the full stack as one package: sensors + gateways + deployed, branded platform. Request the starter quote or read more about our platform services.
